Why commission a painting?

There’s no way around it, commissions are extravagant! They allow you to purchase a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork painted specifically for you. Perhaps you like my work but can’t find exactly what you want or you want something in a different colour, maybe you have something very specific in mind such as a portrait of a family member or one of your favourite locations, or maybe you have a unique wall space that you would like to fill. Whatever the reason, commissioning me directly gives you to opportunity to get exactly what you want.

A note from Phoebe

Commissions give me the exciting opportunity to work closely with clients to create something personal, meaningful and significant that will be part of their lives forever. If you’re interested in commissioning me to create a piece of artwork for you then I’d love to hear from you!

How does it work?

Get in touch to kick off the process. We’ll begin with a discussion around what sort of piece you’re after: size, materials and colours you’d like, and finally, your budget and timeline. I’ll come back to you with a proposal based on your specification.

Once agreed, I’ll take a 40% deposit and begin painting! (Depending on my workload I may not be able to begin painting right away) I’ll keep you up-to-date with progress on your painting along the way. Once I am close to finishing you’ll be able to give up to two rounds of alterations. On delivery of the finished piece I’ll take the remainder of the payment.

At what point do I have to commit?

Until you have paid the deposit of 40% it’s just a discussion! So feel free to get in touch without feeling obligated or pressured to follow through with the commission. The process of meeting with the client and fully understanding their dreams for their painting is really important to Phoebe. It’s important to her that you feel really happy with her and that the process of commissioning your piece is fun and easy!

How do I pay for a commissioned painting?

Once you and Phoebe have agreed the scope of the painting, Phoebe will send an invoice to you for 40% of the agreed budget. Upon payment of this Phoebe will begin painting. This 40% deposit is non-refundable as Phoebe will use it to purchase the required materials and equipment for your piece. Final payment will be required before delivery of the painting. Payments can be made through multiple routes including bank transfer or credit card.

How much will it cost?

The price is dictated by the painting size, materials and technicality. Phoebe will be able to discuss pricing with you during the initial discussion process. You will have control over the budget you agree and once agreed the price will not change. Phoebe’s precious commissions have ranged from £750-£5,500.

How long will it take?

This really depends on your timeline and on Phoebe’s existing workload. Ordinarily, we would expect it to be around four weeks between paying the deposit and receiving your finished painting. If you are on a tighter timeframe however, then it is worth speaking to Phoebe as she may be able to work on a tighter turn around depending on her workload, the technicality and size of your piece.

What can I commission?

Anything you like! Whether it’s a portrait, a painting of your favourite location or landmark, an abstract using particular colours, or an artwork similar to one that you have seen elsewhere. Phoebe can work from rough descriptions or from photographs. She’s painted ‘feelings’, bridges, beaches, buildings, children (portraits), lighthouses!

How can I check the progress of my commissioned artwork?

Phoebe will be in regular touch with you throughout the process. If you have questions you will be able to text or call Phoebe at any time.

Can I return a commissioned artwork?

Unfortunately we do not accept returns of commissioned artworks. These are bespoke pieces painted just for you!
